Self-Care Isn’t Selfish: Realigning in 2025

Loving myself has always been a priority, and while I once thought it was “selfish,” growing wiser has taught me it’s actually self-love and self-care.
Sadly, self-care is something many people, especially those around me, often neglect. Parents, for instance, tend to focus entirely on their children, forgetting to care for themselves. Similarly, eldest siblings often put their family first, leaving little room for their own needs.

It’s a reminder that taking care of yourself isn’t selfish—it’s essential. When you prioritize self-care, you’re better equipped to support others.
For the past decade, I shifted my focus from self-care to family, a conscious decision as I approached my mid-30s. Sundays became family day, ensuring we gathered for dinner at least once a week—a tradition I’ve cherished.

Now, in 2025, it feels like the right time to prioritize myself again and envision the next 20 years of my life. While my focus will shift, my mom will remain a central part of my journey, especially after losing my dad last October. One early morning at 5 a.m., I came across Simon Sinek’s talk, Focus Only on Yourself in 2025. I’ve always admired his insights on becoming a better leader and improving oneself. This topic was a timely reminder that it’s perfectly okay to realign with yourself. It inspired me, and I’ll share the link here—hope it resonates with you too!
