Mental Health issues have become common, especially after the Pandemic. You will only notice something when you are experiencing it. Just when this mental health came to me like 10 years ago when someone called me saying that she put a knife on her wrist and wanted to end her life now. That was my very first experience for me.
Fast forward to today, I may not be the expert when it comes to mental health issues.
Nevertheless, I have a lot to share based on the stories and related reading materials from time to time. In fact, I had a Preview with Befriender when there was an opening for volunteers. I have decided not to proceed further because I cannot commit to the hours as stated. I am sure that I would love to kick start something to help people before I decide to further my passion in this area. And, I always want to help teenagers who are yet to have their direction. I choose to start with my teenage nephew and niece before I could contribute to others.
Lately, I’ve accompanied someone to a therapy session where it is time for us to seek professional help. I must say this is very fruitful. And a new word learned, Validate. It may not be the same way to advise those needing some life directions or someone who is sad over something unfortunate that happened. There are very different ways to motivate and validate someone.
The truth is, every day we learn something new. Despite what we think, we learn something new every day.
