It was just a regular Monday for us all when we got an email from top management saying there is a staff meeting early Monday. Never had this kind of meeting with top management since my 2 years plus here. I was a little surprised, for sure when got this email.
No one noticed there is a lawyer who is going to join in this meeting. No proper introduction from the top management on the agenda for this meeting. The lawyer came in and just told us that he is the representative for the owner who could not be here at the moment. They have decided to shut down the business. The lawyer came and mentioned a sentence. ‘The company has decided to shut down. <fullstop>
How would you react on this?
When asked, WHEN and WHAT are the compensations like? I do not have any information, the lawyer said. What is the arrangement on all backlog sales? Again, I do not have any information. How about our clients, are we still able to take their order from today onward? Same answer. Ok, alright. I got you. You are here to tell us, the company is shut down and no more.
Many of you may not aware of or agreed with me. I had experiences with different companies as well heard of the stories from friends who experienced the same thing. Asian company compared with the Western company. There are Pros and Cons. There is always hard to find in between for a good balance.
I have worked with Singapore based company 3 times, and none of them gave employees good experiences. Japanese and Switzerland-based companies are the best through my working experiences. They are taking care of employees and working together as a team toward a big goal.
Moving forward, I am pretty confident that I will meet a good company and leading a good team together to find our goals together.
BE OPTIMISTIC! EVERYTHING JUST PASS IT BACK TO GOD.
